The Infected Blood Inquiry Memorial was created to remember all the people infected and affected by the use of infected blood and blood products, particularly between 1970 and 1998.

The Inquiry, led by Sir Brian Langstaff, examined the circumstances in which thousands of men, women and children treated by the national health services in the UK were given infected blood and blood products.

The Memorial was first developed for the opening of the Inquiry in London in 2018. Developed in collaboration with Inquiry participants, the memorial contains bottles with personal messages, each one written by someone impacted. Some are public and visible. Some are private and invisible.

In 2026 The University of Manchester became the official custodian of the Memorial, where it will be cared for as a place of remembrance, reflection and learning for generations to come.
